WELLNESS WEEKEND FOR SOLDIERS’ FAMILIES – AUGUST 12TH-13TH, 2006
Our August, 2006
event for 4th ID soldiers’ families was a great success.
The families arrived at the Dallas Embassy Suites near the Galleria
Saturday morning, then immediately drove to the Plaza Park Salons in
Plano for their makeovers. The children had fun at Chuck E. Cheese’s
right down the street from the salon location, while their moms
enjoyed lunch from Jason’s Deli and makeovers including makeup,
massage, hair, and nails.
Children at Chuck
E Cheese:
The beauty
volunteers from Plaza Park did a wonderful job on the ladies’ hair
and nails while a crew from Arbonne Cosmetics helped the women with
their makeup. Local massage therapists offered relaxing chair
massages.
Makeovers:
After a few
hours of shopping or lounging by the pool, the ladies were treated
to an appreciation dinner and style show put on by Patty Logan and
volunteer models who looked beautiful in clothes from Rebekah’s
Fashion.
Meanwhile, our
hardworking nursery volunteers were caring for the babies while
their big brothers and sisters were enjoying hot dogs, making cards
for their Dads, and being entertained by the clowns from
Merrymakers.
The Nursery
The families
returned home the following day, a little more refreshed and able to
handle the challenges that all deployed soldiers’ loved ones face on
a day-to-day basis.
A big thanks
to all the nursery volunteers and those who helped entertain the
children. A special thanks goes out to Merrymakers, the clowns who
gave their time on Saturday night to make the kids’ time in Dallas
special.
We want to thank our donors, especially
Mannatech and Walmart, along with contributors, Great American
Cookie Company, Valley View Mall, Jason’s Deli, Chuck E. Cheese, and
