The Encourager – The Psalm 91
Newsletter- January 10, 2007
“I shall
tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and
the
serpent I shall
trample underfoot.”
Psalm 91:13
It's time for me to "take the gloves off" so to speak. I am weary
with the burden of "not offending anyone" with my opinions and
beliefs. Now, if you can bear with me, I will speak from the heart
on the War In Iraq and the new addition of troops as announced by
President Bush this evening. Any of you who know me personally may
have seen this side of me. Others may be surprised. Let me say up
front that if you are offended with my
comments, I understand. We can agree to disagree. You may respond
with an email message if you'd like - pro or con. You may ask to be
taken off my newsletter list. That's okay, and I promise I won't be
offended back. I just cannot take sitting back and being
"politically correct" one more minute. Here's my stand:
-
There is a
time of war and a time of peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:8)
-
The war began when
militant Muslims flew their planes into the Twin Towers in New
York.
-
If you are not
supporting our military with your thoughts and prayers and words
of encouragement, you are missing out on an opportunity to make
a real difference in the outcome of this war.
-
If you vote for
those who don't support our troops, you vote for a future for
our children that is riddled with attacks on our own soil from
emboldened terrorists.
-
As a Marine Mom
told me 2 nights ago, when a woman called her son a killer and
rapist while almost deifying Saddam Hussein, "Please let me know
your address so that I can place a sign in your front yard that
states, "Please do not defend me."
-
I talk to military
men and women and their families on a daily basis, and the
consensus among them - especially the deployed troops - is, "Let
me fight to defend my country. Let me do the job I was sent over
here to do. Please pray for me and tell me you are behind me and
what I am doing. Write to me to encourage me. Stand up for me
when you get a chance. Help and encourage my family while I'm
gone."
That's what I will continue to do, no matter what. I will not stand
by and silently put up with the current-day Jane Fondas any longer.
You cannot convince me that she didn't directly affect the outcome
of Vietnam. I believe she did. Let me ask you a question. What are
you doing to stand up for our troops? What are you doing to stand up
for our President? If you don't agree with his decisions, are
you at least praying for him? What are you
doing to stand up for our country? I hope you will join me and the
many involved Americans I know who are sending letters and packages,
blessing families of deployed military, and praying for our troops.
God bless America! Thank you.
God's Blessings
